Match Play Competition

Boston Chapter Match Play

  • Do you enjoy playing in a friendly head-to-head competition and meeting fellow Chapter members?
  • Want to strengthen your mental toughness and lower your handicap?

Whether your handicap is high or low, Match Play is an excellent way to advance your golf skills. Competition is open to any member with a USGA Handicap Index (GHIN or GN21 are acceptable).

 What is Match Play?______________________________________________________________________________________________________

In match play, each hole is a separate competition.   Simple - win a hole, that's one point for you; lose a hole, that's one point for your opponent, ties (called halves) score a half-point for each player.  In this format (unlike traditional match play in which the contest is complete when one side cannot “catch up”), you will continue to play all eighteen holes, since every point counts.

The Boston Chapter Match Play Competition is a fun, full handicap match-play event.

  • Play 4 match play rounds during the season and amass points
  • Toward the end of the season, the top 8 seeded players play a single elimination tournament
  • At the end of the tournament we crown the 2016 Boston Chapter Match Play Champion!

Match Play is fun!
